The wind screamed past Veronika’s ears. The trees sped past her eyes. She was running. She loved running it by far out weighed a car. Her most favourite mode of transport and far quicker than any other land transport. Before she’d know it she’d be at her destination. She’d be done with the woods and would begin her new life.
New life? What an interesting thought… Could she really be new after so many years? She doubted it. It was humorous; she was too damaged to be new.
Veronika stopped. Her hair crashed across her face, a leaf stuck to her cheek and mud decorated her shoes. It was a predestination stop. She was close to the central hub of her endpoint, Mystic Falls, but she wasn’t quite there. This place hadn’t been on her schedule either. Yet it reeked of the ancient and buzzed with activity. But looking around Veronika couldn’t see anything out of the ordinary. It was an old ruin. A church ruin, and not even a proper church if Veronika was to be asked.
She paced a little, looking frantically across the floor for an indication of what caused the sensations she was experiencing. Her mind was alive with thought. It excited her, mystery. Why would such a ruin in the middle of a wood on the outskirts of such a crappy little town be so thriving? Veronika laughed a little out loud and continued to pace. This is what she travelled for. This is why she thanked her god for her transition. She had become obsessed with this stuff; it became the light in her dark.
