` overall personality.
Veronika is an odd character to pin down as on the surface she appears an innocent young girl, forced to grow up before her time and not really aware of her surroundings; a childlike essence almost. However below the surface she is far more sinister. Though her essence is that of a child it is perverse and altered by her history sending her fleeting into her imagination. Sending her into fits of fury, fits of depression and fits of ecstasy; though all rarely.
In the aspects she has grown naturally she has grown well and has a well-balanced head; her ability to see arguments and their subjectivity; her ability to other those she need not like and her strong will and determination are all examples of this; it’s just dependent on mood as to whether these aspects are shown.

` history. A one of intricate detail to begin. Veronika was part of the Russian aristocratic (before the term had been coined) family Zakharyina – Yurieva. Their family was successful and beautiful known throughout their home region. As the older girl Veronika was married by her fifteenth year for the purpose of tying two important family lines. Defiantly she produced no children but continued to live blissfully with her husband near her family and his. They never wanted for anything other than a bloodline of their own.
Her father died the year after her marriage and to escape grief, Veronika and her love, Dmitri, moved briefly from Moscow further into Russia. Unfortunately whatever the pair had been looking for they had not found and after another year they returned home, still childless. By this point the emphasis was on Anastasia, Veronika’s younger sister, to marry a well to do family and create a bloodline. Anastasia achieved just that by creating what would later become the Romanov bloodline.
However before Veronika could see the success of her sister and family, through her sister’s marriage, Veronika was turned. During her trip further into Russia Dmitri and Veronika had caught the attention of a Norman vampire. He became infatuated and delusional with it. He followed the pair home. For two years he followed Veronika making his appearance unknown to his subject, until in 1546 he made her aware of him. She ignored him; not knowing what he was and only that she loved Dmitri. But the vampire was persistent. He tormented her. Threatened her, wanting Veronika to come of her own accord, which she did not. In the end after a bout of fury, after witnessing an argument between Veronika and Dmitri, Durant (the vampire) lost it. He tortured Dmitri before Veronika thinking it would earn the approval of his love and then her killed Veronika making her, his forever.
After her transition and no he had her Durant spent the next 100 years slowly falling out of his obsession. Veronika had lost some of her mentality and innocence in the acts of her transition and appeared not to be the girl he’d wanted after all. He abandoned her and the pair have not seen each other since.
Veronika spent the next 300 years pacing the world learning the history of the lands she explored, predominately alone and again never wanting for anything. Her move to Mystic Falls was a conscious one to explore the rumour of originals and also to explore the history of the founding families. As a result she enrolled into the school.

The wind screamed past Veronika’s ears. The trees sped past her eyes. She was running. She loved running it by far out weighed a car. Her most favourite mode of transport and far quicker than any other land transport. Before she’d know it she’d be at her destination. She’d be done with the woods and would begin her new life.
New life? What an interesting thought… Could she really be new after so many years? She doubted it. It was humorous; she was too damaged to be new.
Veronika stopped. Her hair crashed across her face, a leaf stuck to her cheek and mud decorated her shoes. It was a predestination stop. She was close to the central hub of her endpoint, Mystic Falls, but she wasn’t quite there. This place hadn’t been on her schedule either. Yet it reeked of the ancient and buzzed with activity. But looking around Veronika couldn’t see anything out of the ordinary. It was an old ruin. A church ruin, and not even a proper church if Veronika was to be asked.
She paced a little, looking frantically across the floor for an indication of what caused the sensations she was experiencing. Her mind was alive with thought. It excited her, mystery. Why would such a ruin in the middle of a wood on the outskirts of such a crappy little town be so thriving? Veronika laughed a little out loud and continued to pace. This is what she travelled for. This is why she thanked her god for her transition. She had become obsessed with this stuff; it became the light in her dark.
